September 1st - September 7th
Myopenbar Presents: The Muslims, Women, Vivian Girls, LiveFastDie
Sorry but the list for this event has been closed.
Ceci n'est pas une CMJ party. That means you don't need a badge, Frenchie. In fact, please don't come if you're wearing that hokey shit around your neck, because this party's basically in the projects, and wearing that thing is like wearing a sign that says, "I'm a douchebag – mug me!"
But enough about the dress code. What's the story with the bands playing this liquored-up lo-fi fete? Here's what the professionals say:
- The Muslims: "A San Diego group called the Muslims played last night, and it really couldn't have been any better..." "Every element interlocks perfectly." (Washington Post)
- Women: Women are actually four men, from Canada. Their new album is "a lo-fi masterpiece that...brims with deceptively tight pop hooks and languid walls of noise." (Earfarm)
- Vivian Girls: "Punks, but really romantics at heart" (New York Times), "who've become overnight sensations among critics and underground rock fans..." A "really awesome new band." (Pitchfork)
- LiveFastDie: "Oh boy. Another band that can hardly play their instruments and likes to get wasted." (LiveFast Die's myspace page)
